“I feel ready”- Liverpool new boy happy to show off his ability against Leicester City

Wataru Endo talks about his performance for Liverpool against Leicester City

Wataru Endo and his journey at Liverpool took an exciting turn on Wednesday night as he delivered a standout performance against Leicester City.

Speaking to The Athletic [subscription required] via the ECHO, the Japanese midfielder shared his thoughts on the game, and it’s clear that he sees this as a pivotal moment in his Liverpool career. Facing criticism for not fitting into the Reds’ style of play, Endo put in a clean shift against Leicester City and was impressive against Enzo Maresca’s men. Here is what he had to say on his game against the Foxes in our Carabao Cup win against them:

“I enjoyed it so much. I thought I was better than in the other games. I am happy that I was able to show who I am.”

“Defensively, I’m trying to adapt. Like I played in the second half tonight, I wanted to play like that at Newcastle and in the Europa [League] game [at LASK], but I understand I needed some time. It felt so good to play the full 90 minutes and I felt like I was able to make a difference.”

“If I keep playing like I did in the second half, then I hope I’ll play more in the Premier League. I feel ready. I have to perform like that in every game.”

These words from Endo reflect his growing confidence and comfort within the Liverpool setup. While adapting to the Premier League’s demanding defensive requirements has been a challenge for the Japanese international, Wednesday night’s display showcased his progress.

Endo’s optimism is palpable, and it’s a sentiment that Liverpool fans can certainly share. His ability to adapt and want to improve over a relatively short period bodes well for the future, both for him individually and for Liverpool as a team.

His dedication and desire to contribute to Liverpool’s success are evident, and that’s precisely what Jurgen Klopp and the coaching staff want to see from their players. As Liverpool continue to navigate a busy season across various competitions, players like Endo will undoubtedly play crucial roles.
