“We have to be prepared”- Agent sheds light on future of 25-year-old star identified by Liverpool as Andy Robertson’s successor

Liverpool would face a whole host of competition to sign Brighton’s left-back Pervis Estupinan

The agent of Brighton defender Pervis Estupinan has revealed they “have to be prepared” for the Ecuadorian’s possible transfer amid links to Liverpool according to TEAMtalk(h/t Liverpoolecho).

Manuel Sierra represents Estupinan, who has emerged as a reported target for the Reds as they search for a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson.

Liverpool are said to have identified the 25-year-old left-back as someone who could eventually succeed Robertson on the flank.

Pervis Estupinan has caught the eye at Brighton & Hove Albion

Responding to the speculation, Sierra made it clear that Estupinan’s impressive form for Brighton means there is significant interest in his services.

“Pervis is a super interesting player, who several teams from the Premier [League] are keen on. Spanish football [clubs] and others have asked about his situation, because they are looking for a left-back and he is one of the best in the world in his position. We will see in the summer how his situation is, now he is injured and will have a maximum of a month [out].”

He noted that Spanish clubs have also asked about Estupinan’s situation as they look to reinforce at full-back. Sierra admitted he is unsure what Brighton would demand in a potential sale. But he insisted they have to be ready for offers that come in for the Ecuador star.

“We have to be prepared with him [for a possible transfer], we don’t even know what Brighton is going to ask for, people are a little afraid of the club [due to Caicedo’s transfer and those negotiations].”

Pervis Estupinan could be the replacement for the 29-year-old Andy Robertson.

Estupinan moved to Brighton from Villarreal in August 2022 and has been a regular starter under Roberto De Zerbi.

Liverpool will likely face fierce competition from Premier League rivals and La Liga suitors if they firm up their interest. Sierra made it clear that Estupinan’s camp will assess all options when the market opens. A bidding war could drive up his price.

The Reds reportedly view him as an ideal understudy and eventual successor to Andy Robertson over the next few years.

But Sierra’s comments suggest prising Estupinan away from the Amex Stadium could be difficult, especially with other clubs circling.

Liverpool have been warned they must prepare to fight hard to land their Robertson successor should they pursue a deal.
