17-year-old Assan Ouedraogo of Schalke has been garnering attention from clubs in the Premier League. His versatility in the middle of the park makes him a valuable asset to have when it comes to the long-term future of any club.
The Reds, under Jurgen Klopp, have developed a system wherein young players are constantly given chances within the first-team setup. And at times like these, the Reds thinking of bringing Ouedraogo on board is a wise decision.
In nine
appearances for Schalke in the second tier of German football this season, Assan Ouedraogo has a goal to his name. Apart from playing in the middle of the park, the player is also capable of playing out from the left-wing as well.Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports via Twitter reports the Reds’ links with the player. Alongside Liverpool, even the likes of Brighton and Hove Albion and Everton also show interest in bringing the player on board.
Moreover, he also goes on to mention a €20m release clause in the player’s contract that teams from abroad, that is teams from outside Germany would have to cough up to trigger the release and secure the player’s signature.
As earlier mentioned, Jurgen Klopp does not shy away from giving young players with potential a run with the first team to possibly make an impression for themselves. The likes of Harvey Elliot, Ben Doak, Tyler Morton, Stefan Bajcetic, Conor Bradley and Kaide Gordon among others are all examples of the same in recent seasons.
He made history with Schalke twice in his side’s 5-3 defeat to Hamburg in the season opener back in July by becoming the youngest player to appear – and subsequently score – for the club.
Hopefully, the interest transpires into something concrete in the coming weeks as the player’s talent is certainly undeniable and he could potentially become an important part of the Reds’ lineup in the years to come.
