“I’m not a young player anymore” – Trent Alexander-Arnold says he is not prepared to rest on his laurels

Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold reveals his lofty ambitions

Liverpool vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold insists he still has lofty ambitions to fulfil and is not satisfied with resting on his achievements so far.

The 25-year-old full-back has already won seven major honours with Liverpool since breaking through from the academy.

But speaking while on England duty to Channel 4(h/t Liverpoolfc), Alexander-Arnold made it clear he feels there is much more left in his career. The England international explained he has realized he can no longer be considered a young prospect and must maximize his peak years.

“I’ve got high dreams and ambitions, and although I’ve achieved a lot of them, there’s still so much more that I want to achieve,

I’ve realised, for me, I’m not a young player anymore. [I’m] getting into hopefully the peak years of my career and how can I get the best out of that?

I’m the one that’s responsible for it, I’m the one that can make that happen. I’ve always felt like I’ve been in control of what I can go and achieve as a player, I just needed the opportunities to go and do that”

The Liverpool vice-captain suggested he is taking control of pushing his limits to fulfil his remaining objectives in the game. His message was clear – despite his medal haul and individual honours, Trent Alexander-Arnold will not be resting on his laurels anytime soon.

Reaching his mid-20s has lit a fire in the full-back to achieve even more at Anfield and for England. Alexander-Arnold has shown outstanding consistency for Liverpool, registering over 270 appearances already.

But he clearly feels he still has levels to reach and wants to use his prime years wisely to become the best player he can be. Ever since his breakthrough back in 2016, the highly-rated right-back has won multiple individual and team honours. He is indeed an invaluable member of Jurgen Klopp

‘s squad.
