The Reds, coming into this game, had a bit of an injury scare with regards to two of their players but Liverpool would sit pleased to see the back of at least one of those injury issues.

Although Andy Robertson might not take part in this game, winger Cody Gakpo returned to team training and featured across the social media channels of the club as well, giving Jurgen Klopp’s men a huge boost.

On the other side of Stanley Park, Everton manager Sean Dyche appears to be relatively confident in terms of his squad’s fitness. Apart from the well-known long-term injuries to Seamus Coleman and Dele Alli, Dyche’s roster looks to be in good shape. The vast majority of Everton’s players are available for the Merseyside Derby, which bodes well for the Toffees via ECHO.

“He [Gueye] had a knock that needed settling down. Virtually everyone is available apart from the long-term ones. A lot of the players have come back fit and well.”

“If you look at Liverpool, they tend to stick with a basic format.”

Luckily, the Reds have not had to deal with a lot of injury issues this season. In contrast to Everton’s relatively favourable injury situation, Liverpool have managed to maintain a healthier squad this season, with fewer injury concerns. The Reds’ consistency and depth have played a crucial role in their strong start to the campaign.

As the derby approaches, both teams will be focusing on the physical condition of their squads and the strategies that will guide them through this high-stakes clash. Liverpool’s remarkable squad depth has allowed them to remain competitive in the Premier League, and the return of Cody Gakpo provides even more flexibility to Jurgen Klopp.

Are Liverpool the favourites

Gakpo’s impact on the team in training and on the pitch in previous derbies alongside our other attackers could be a significant factor. The competitiveness of the Merseyside Derby is driven not only by the historical rivalry but also by the unique atmosphere at Anfield.

The hostile and passionate Anfield crowd can make it a daunting place for any visiting side, especially for a struggling Everton team that has only managed seven points from eight games in the Premier League this season.

Considering Liverpool’s strong form this season, with only one loss under somewhat controversial circumstances at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, they enter the derby as clear favourites.
