Liverpool are looking to sign Argentinian midfielder Ezequiel Fernandez
Ezequiel Fernandez is a name that is garnering interest from the top clubs around the world with Liverpool, AC Milan and SL Benfica all interested in the talented 21-year-old Argentine midfield sensation.
He has performed very well for Boca Juniors. He has impressed a lot with his performances. Predominantly a defensive midfielder, Fernandez can also play in central midfield or as a part of a double pivot.
One immediately understands why Liverpool like him. We do not have a defensive midfielder in the squad other than Wataru Endo. Stefan Bajcectic is there but he is young and he needs time to grow into the player we think he will become.
Endo is at his best a stop-gap solution until Liverpool find a better defensive midfielder. They have been linked with Andre Trindade but Arsenal are set to rival them for his signature and this might have forced them to look at other options.
According to Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are among three clubs interested in the midfield sensation. They have a glowing recommendation from one player in the squad for the 21-year-old.
That is Alexis Mac Allister. According to HITC (h/t Liverpool Echo), the Argentinian World Cup winner is a big fan of his compatriot and has given Liverpool a huge thumbs up to sign him, should they be interested.
Mac Allister has been forced to play in the number six role due to the option of a natural one and it comes as no surprise that he wants the club to sign a new holding midfielder. He has suggested Ezequiel Fernandez‘s name.
The former Brighton & Hove Albion man might be dying to go further up the pitch and dictate play from there, something that he does so well for the national team and Liverpool will be better off utilizing him in a familiar role as well.
