Latest injury updates as Liverpool gear up to face AFC Bournemouth in Carabao Cup

Liverpool will have a near full-strength squad as Curtis Jones, who’s been serving a three-match domestic suspension, is now eligible to make his comeback in the Carabao Cup clash against AFC Bournemouth. Jones’s suspension stemmed from an extremely controversial red card he received during a heated match against Tottenham Hotspur which ended 2-1 against us.

The young and talented right-winger, Ben Doak, has also been making strides on his road to recovery. Doak has recently resumed training and is showing promise, although his availability for the upcoming fourth-round tie at the Vitality Stadium remains uncertain.

While the news of Jones and Doak’s potential involvement is a boost for Liverpool, the team is still dealing with some injury setbacks. Midfielders Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic, as well as fullbacks Conor Bradley and Andy Robertson also currently see themselves sidelined due to various stages of their injury recoveries. Their absence has put some strain on the squad, but the depth and versatility of Liverpool’s lineup provide the necessary support to navigate these challenges.

Speaking to the club’s official website ahead of our game against Bournemouth, here is what assistant manager Pep Lijnders had to say about Thiago who is yet to feature for the Reds this season, after giving updates on the rest of the squad:

“We really miss [Thiago] but that will take time, he will not be available. He is an unbelievable professional and an unbelievable guy. We hope to get him back soon.”

Speaking of the players who are back, Curtis Jones‘ return to the fold is undoubtedly a welcome development for Liverpool. The player has been tremendous for the Reds ever since the fag end of last season and his work rate plus ball retention in the middle of the park is key to the way Jurgen Klopp plays.

The Mighty Reds

In his absence, Liverpool has managed to maintain their momentum, thanks to the remarkable depth in the squad. The team’s performance across various competitions has been solid, with players like Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai putting in an absolute shift.
