Real Madrid join Liverpool in the race for Portuguese defender Goncalo Inacio
Liverpool are understandably on the lookout in the market for central defenders and Goncalo Inacio is one of the names that have piqued their interest.
However, things never come easy, especially when you are Liverpool, and we will have to face competition from Real Madrid for the signature of the 22-year-old defender. Goncalo Inacio is hot property at the moment.
Liverpool had a tough choice to make this summer. Do they completely revamp the midfield and let the defence be as it was or do they spread their focus across the two positions. The Anfield club went down the former route.
Whilst there is no denying that both positions needed reinforcements, Liverpool decided to trust the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konate and the others to get the job done for the time-being.
Instead, they spent all their resources to completely transform the midfield and there is no doubt that this paying off. Liverpool’s defence though is not completely convincing and the Reds will know that they will have to bring in a new crop soon.
According to Spanish publication AS, Liverpool remain keen on adding the incredibly talented Goncalo Inacio to their ranks but Real Madrid have now joined the race for the Portuguese defender.
It is never good news to know that the Spanish giants are also trying for a player that we want due to the incredible pulling power that they have shown over the years. Liverpool fans will want to avoid an Aurelian Tchouameni situation once again.
Inacio will fit in perfectly at Liverpool. His defensive prowess and ability to make a difference singlehandedly cannot be understated. He could be the present and the future of our defence.
