Liverpool interested in a move for 15 G/A Bundesliga midfielder

Liverpool eye a move for Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz

20-year-old German forward Florian Wirtz is currently one of Europe’s most sought-after talents, drawing attention from several elite clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea.

While City and Bayern initially appeared to have the upper hand in the race to secure Wirtz’s signature, Liverpool’s growing interest has thrown a new twist into the mix.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is a keen admirer of Florian Wirtz. The free-scoring left winger has captured Klopp’s attention, and the Liverpool boss sees him as one of the few players who could potentially step into the shoes of Mo Salah, should the prolific Egyptian decide to part ways with Anfield.

While Salah resisted lucrative offers to move to the Saudi Pro League last summer, speculation remains rife that he may choose to leave Liverpool next June. Keeping that in mind, the Reds have Wirtz on their radar as a potential replacement for Mo (h/t Daily Star).

Wirtz to the Reds?

Wirtz’s rise to prominence has surely been nothing short of remarkable. The primarily attacking midfielder has already amassed an impressive record of six goals and nine assists in just 15 appearances across all competitions this season under the tutelage of former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso, who now manages Leverkusen. Although he may not possess the lightning pace that has become synonymous with Salah, Wirtz brings a different set of attributes to the table.

With an abundance of potential, Wirtz could certainly be the heir apparent to the Egyptian King and the one to take up the mantle should Salah depart Liverpool in the summer.

Wirtz’s style of play aligns well with Liverpool’s attacking philosophy under Klopp. As a left winger, he surely possesses the ability to score goals and create opportunities for his teammates. His versatility and adaptability in different attacking positions make him a valuable asset for any team. While he may not replicate Salah’s pace, he brings a unique skill set that could complement Liverpool’s existing attacking options.

If Liverpool intend to secure Wirtz’s signature, they will need to make a compelling case for why Anfield should be his next destination. The presence of other juggernauts in the race to his signature means that it surely will not be easy for the Reds if they decide to pursue a move for the German international. £80m is what Leverkusen quote.
