Liverpool linked with a January move for Wolverhampton Wanderers defender

Liverpool eye a January move for Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Algerian left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri sees himself linked with a move to Liverpool. The 22-year-old could join the Reds as a long-term replacement for Andrew Robertson, who will be 30 in March of 2024. Ait-Nouri is a versatile player, who can also play on the left side of midfield alongside his natural left-back position.

Statistically, the player is very similar in attributes to Robbo, as the Algerian also likes to make a push into the final third and showcase his playmaking abilities from out wide. His partnership with Pedro Neto this season is there for all to see.

The statistics further underscore Ait-Nouri’s impact on the pitch. With four goals and eight assists in 92 appearances across all competitions for Wolves, he has proven himself as a potent force in both defensive and offensive aspects of the game. Such numbers not only highlight his proficiency in contributing defensively but also his ability to make meaningful contributions in the final third.

Le10 Sport via ECHO claim his links with the Reds. However, Wolves have no intention of letting the 22-year-old left-back go. Regardless of the offer that may arrive this winter, Ait-Nouri will be “stuck”.

As earlier mentioned, the timing of this potential move aligns strategically for Liverpool, considering Robertson’s approaching milestone. The Scottish left-back, who has been an integral part of Liverpool’s success, will turn 30 in March 2024. Planning for succession is a hallmark of top football clubs, and Ait-Nouri

emerges as a promising candidate to carry the torch in the left-back position.

Ait-Nouri to the Reds?

As the January transfer window approaches, Liverpool fans will be keenly monitoring developments regarding the potential acquisition of Rayan Ait-Nouri. If the deal materializes, it could signify a crucial step in fortifying Liverpool’s defensive options and ensuring a seamless transition in a key position.

He’s still young, so there is obviously a lot of time for him to work on the rough edges of his game, and give both, Robbo and Kostas Tsimikas a run for their money.

If the transfer materialises in the January window, it could offer Ait-Nouri the opportunity to adapt to Liverpool’s style of play and integrate seamlessly into the squad ahead of the next season.
