Saudi giants Al-Ittihad could bid for Liverpool star Mohamed Salah soon as January beckons
In the wake of a staggering bid earlier this season in the summer window from Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad for Mohamed Salah, Liverpool FC’s resolve stands set to face another test as speculation swirls about a potential return from the Saudi Pro League outfit either in January or next summer.
The Reds obviously rejected the colossal offer at the end of the summer transfer window. The rejection highlighted the club’s determination to keep Mohamed Salah at Anfield, considering his pivotal role in their pursuit of domestic and international glory.
The Saudi Pro League’s director of football, Michael Emenalo, shed light on the league’s strategic approach to player acquisitions, emphasizing a shift towards pursuing individuals of the highest level. Emenalo noted that the era of multiple big-name acquisitions in a single transfer window is a thing of the past even though we need to go back in the past beyond more than a year.
Here is what Emenalo had to say to the Saudi Pro League (h/t liverpool.com), as Salah continues to see himself linked with a move to the Middle East [ESPN]:
“Whatever additional improvement that we need to do for any club, with time on our hands and preparation, we believe will be additions of the highest level,”
The Egyptian King
Salah’s scintillating form for Liverpool this season, marked by 10 league goals and four assists in 12 games, underscores his indomitable influence on the pitch. His contributions have been integral to Liverpool’s pursuit of success on multiple fronts.
To put it in simple terms, it would be nothing short of foolishness for Liverpool to entertain any bid for Mohamed Salah, even if it surpasses the £200m mark. Salah’s impact extends beyond his goal-scoring prowess; he is a talismanic figure whose presence is synonymous with Liverpool’s ambitions.
The rejection of Al-Ittihad’s previous bid underscored Liverpool’s resolve to keep Salah at Anfield, and any subsequent attempt to lure him away would likely and if not, should be met with the same staunch resistance.
