Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson offers fresh injury update
Liverpool superstar Andy Robertson has provided an optimistic update on his recovery journey after undergoing surgery to address a shoulder injury sustained during Scotland’s international fixtures in October.
The defender is currently on the sidelines, navigating the rehabilitation process with a determined mindset. Assuming he shall be out until the new year, he by then would have missed 17 games, and to ensure that this number doesn’t rise, it is important to complete the rehab process thoroughly and not rush into things.
Knowing how competitive Robbo can get, the first guess one would make is that he would want to return to action as soon as possible. While it is natural to want so, this time around, the player is taking this injury situation with much more seriousness and only wants to return when is ready to put in 100%.
Speaking as he watched his country draw 3-3 with Norway on Sunday night, here is what Robertson told Viaplay Sports via the club’s official website:
“I’ve not looked that far ahead yet [to a possible return date]. I’m just trying to take it week by week.”
“I’m trying to not get frustrated, I’m not the best [when] injured. I’m trying to just take small wins every single week.”
Patience is Key
Robertson’s resilience extends to his approach to rehabilitation. The left-back admits to the challenges of dealing with injuries but emphasises his focus on achieving incremental progress. Prior to his injury, he had a goal from nine appearances across all competitions for the Reds.
Fans including us are eager to see Robbo back in action, contributing his trademark overlapping runs and defensive prowess to Jurgen Klopp’s side. His absence has created an opportunity for others to step up, with Kostas Tsimikas shouldering the responsibilities in the left-back position during Robertson’s recovery period.
While Robertson refrains from setting a specific return date, his commitment to achieving small milestones each week suggests a disciplined and focused approach to rehabilitation.
The Liverpool faithful will eagerly anticipate his return to action, knowing the impact he can have on the team’s fortunes.
