Liverpool not keen on signing Gabriel Moscardo amid Arsenal links
Liverpool are not extremely enthusiastic about signing South American star Gabriel Moscardo of Corinthians who is also on the radar of Premier League rivals, Arsenal. The 18-year-old defensive midfielder also sees himself linked with a move to the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal apart from Liverpool. Those clubs are apparently better positioned to get the Brazilian on board.
Moscardo is an extremely versatile midfielder capable of slotting into any position in the middle of the park. For his age, he has been putting up eye-catching performances and with that, has come interest from the big clubs in Europe.
Liverpool, over the years, have not really gone on to sign South American talent directly from leagues in the continent, but have shown patience with these players. The likes of Luis Diaz, Roberto Firmino, Fabinho, Darwin Nunez, Alexis Mac Allister and Alisson are a few examples of players who moved to the Reds after playing in Europe for a while.
Having said that, football.london claims that the Reds’ rivals see themselves better positioned to sign Moscardo even though the interest from Liverpool is not as serious as other clubs. While the need for defensive midfield reinforcements at Liverpool is evident, the club appears to be exercising caution in pursuing Moscardo, opting for a more measured approach to player recruitment.
What do the Reds need?
The January transfer window looms on the horizon, and Jurgen Klopp’s side faces decisions about bolstering its squad for the challenges ahead. While Moscardo may represent a promising prospect, the Reds seem inclined to prioritise proven players who can seamlessly integrate into Klopp’s system.
As the transfer window approaches, Liverpool fans will undoubtedly be eager to see how the club navigates the delicate balance between addressing immediate needs and maintaining a focus on long-term success.
