Liverpool star Kostas Tsimikas is keen to make more assists this season
Liverpool star Kostas Tsimikas, often deputizing for the injured Andy Robertson, faced scrutiny earlier in the season for his performances. However, the recent clash against Brentford marked a turning point for the Greek international, as he showcased his abilities with two crucial assists and a commendable defensive display.
The left-back’s journey this season has been a rollercoaster, with moments of struggle under the spotlight. Against Brentford, though, Tsimikas not only silenced his critics but also demonstrated resilience and determination to make a significant impact for Liverpool.
However, this positive change in form has only come recently and Liverpool cannot be thankful enough for the timing. Earlier in the season, his mistake against Toulouse away from home in the Premier League cost Liverpool a goal, and the game as well. However, we all know what he is capable of, and against Brentford, KT just reminded us why he is a fan favourite at the club.
Speaking via ECHO, here is what Kostas had to say about his form this season leading up to the turning point, and what he intends to do in the upcoming games:
“I’m really happy I came back against Brentford. I have to keep going with the same passion. Okay, this can happen, we play football, it’s a very difficult sport. It’s up to me now to continue to play good and to make assists for the team.”
Football is indeed a demanding and unpredictable endeavour, and players often find themselves navigating through peaks and valleys of form. Tsimikas’ willingness to shoulder the responsibility and contribute positively to the team’s success reflects the character required to thrive at a club like Liverpool.
The Scouser Greek
The two assists provided by Tsimikas not only bolstered Liverpool’s attacking prowess but also highlighted his offensive capabilities which have always been top-notch.
As he aims to maintain this level of performance, the Greek defender understands the importance of consistency and making valuable contributions to the team. The competition for a spot in the starting XI at Liverpool is intense with Joe Gomez also knocking on the door for a spot in the XI, albeit out of position for him.
As Liverpool navigate a busy season across various competitions, having reliable squad depth becomes pivotal. Tsimikas, with his recent resurgence, adds depth and quality to the squad, providing Jurgen Klopp with valuable options in the absence of key players.
