Al-Ittihad president talks about a move for Liverpool star Mohamed Salah

Liverpool fans may find themselves bracing for another round of transfer drama as Al-Ittihad’s president, Anmar Al-Haili, has hinted at revealing details about their failed attempt to sign Mohamed Salah in the summer transfer window. The Saudi Arabian club made headlines with a staggering £215 million bid for the Egyptian forward, a move swiftly rebuffed by the Reds.

The intrigue surrounding Salah’s potential move to Al-Ittihad heightened in the final week of August, with reports suggesting that the player was drawn to the prospect of joining a league featuring several stars who had made high-profile moves to the Saudi Pro League for the 2023-24 season. Notably, the club successfully secured the services of Fabinho from Liverpool, adding to the speculation around Salah’s potential departure.

However, Jurgen Klopp stood firm in his decision to retain Salah, rejecting the eye-watering offer from Al-Ittihad. Now, Al-Haili has promised to shed light on the intricacies of their pursuit of Salah, along with insights into failed bids for football luminaries like Sergio Ramos and Kevin De Bruyne.

In an interview with Spanish newspaper AS via Express, here is what Al-Haili had to say:

“I remained silent… but I hope to be able to respond soon to what happened in the last week of the summer market regarding Salah, Ramos and De Bruyne.”

As the Saudi Pro League outfit prepares to unveil the details, Liverpool faithful brace themselves for another chapter in the ongoing saga surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future.

Hopefully, he ends up nowhere but in Liverpool and continue to contribute to our success for as long as possible. This season alone, he has 12 goals and four assists in 17 appearances across all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s men and that is surely a testament to his contribution to the club.
