Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp claims Mohamed Salah is yet to hit his peak

Mohamed Salah has been a key cog in Jurgen Klopp’s all-conquering Liverpool side. He continues to play a key role in the German’s rebuild and is the club’s chief goalscorer on the field.

At 31, Salah is entering the final years of his career but does not look like a player whose powers are on the wane. If anything, he continues to cause trouble for opposition defenders and more often than not ends up putting the ball in the back of the net.

Worryingly for opposition teams, Klopp has now revealed that the Egyptian King is yet to hit top gear. Given the numbers he has put up in recent seasons, this statement will be enough to send a cold shiver down the spine of rival defenders.

Speaking to the club’s official website ahead of the titanic clash against Manchester City, Klopp expressed his belief that Salah can still find a higher gear of performance. As the senior most attacker in the Liverpool attacking roster, Salah taking his game to a higher level will certainly urge his teammates to follow suit.

“Of course, he can improve but that’s all about consistency and little moments in games, it would be a shame if he is not 43 and that we ask for that! He expects it from him. Why would he come and be the first in the building every morning and the last one going out if he doesn’t want to improve? Yeah, of course he can.”

While the 31-year-old manages to score a ton of goals, he also tends to miss several opportunities. In fact, the lack of consistency can be frustrating at times, especially in close games. Thankfully, the player, for his part, is not lacking in hunger and is keen to keep up the high standards he has set for himself.

Klopp attributed Salah’s work and also hinted that the veteran winger has no lack of motivation. This sets a solid message for the newcomers in the team as Liverpool aim to build their second great team under the German’s watchful guidance.
