Liverpool left-backs Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas posted promising Instagram posts to give their injury update
Liverpool left-backs Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas provided positive updates on their fitness through social media on Friday. Injuries have sidelined both senior team specialist left-backs, forcing Joe Gomez to fulfill their role.
Liverpool recalled young left-back Owen Beck from his season-long loan spell at Dundee United to add depth to the position. However, the positive news about the recovery is welcoming news for the Kopites and the Reds’ manager Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds are currently at the top of the Premier League table, dealing well with the current injury crisis. Liverpool have lost many players due to short-term as well as long-term injuries during this congested fixture period.
One could easily ignore that there is an injury crisis due to strong performances in both defensive and offensive phases. However, the Reds are still somewhat away from hitting their best form, being wasteful in front of goals. Furthermore, they have shown lapses in concentration in defence, conceding the first goal of the games at times.
Liverpool lost Robertson during the October international break when the Scotland captain suffered a shoulder injury. The injury turned out to be a dislocated shoulder and required surgery, forcing him to miss 19 games so far.
Meanwhile, Tsimikas showed fantastic form in the absence of the Scotsman, taking over the left-back role. The Greek international suffered a broken collarbone on December 23rd during the intense Premier League clash with Arsenal.
The 27-year-old’s quick recovery is nothing short of a miracle according to many fans. Kopites expected Tsimikas to miss the rest of the season due to the gravity of the injury at the time.
Both Robertson and Tsimikas used Instagram to post an update on their respective recoveries. Robertson posted with a caption, “Improving every day”, while Tsimikas’ post caption said, “Not long now!”.
