Liverpool plan to strengthen their attack by signing Swedish sensation Viktor Gyokeres

According to Liverpool ECHO, Sporting CP’s Swedish forward Viktor Gyokeres has garnered the attention of Premier League giants Liverpool with his excellent form in the Portugal club. Since his move to the Liga Portugal last July, the 25-year-old has managed an impressive 22 goals and 10 assists in just 25 appearances he’s made for Ruben Amorim’s side.

). Gyokeres could potentially join Jurgen Klopp’s side if he decides to leave his current team in the near future.

The Swedish international’s link to Liverpool comes right after him snubbing Mauricio Pochettino’s side in their attempts to secure him. Upon Chelsea’s interest in buying Gyokeres in the winter transfer window, the player had given his official statement to Record rebuffing all claims of his transfer to Chelsea by making it clear that he was happy in the Portugal league and had no plans of leaving.

Whilst the attacking trio of Luiz Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo have admirably stepped up to fill the void of the Egyptian star’s absence and maintain Liverpool’s standing at the top of the scoreboard, Klopp still vies for new talent to keep the club going.

Gyokeres fits in this scenario as an able forward for the Merseyside club. The strongly built footballer has proven to be adept at using his strength to secure possession when under pressure, a trait that would blend well with Liverpool’s aggressive style of play.
