Mohamed Salah to fly back to Liverpool for injury rehab

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp noted after the 4-0 win against Bournemouth that Mohamed Salah shall fly back to Merseyside to do his rehab from the recent injury at the club.

Salah saw himself forced off in the Africa Cup of Nations match against Ghana on 19th January. Since then, Egypt have not played a game whereas Liverpool played and won all three of their games in the absence of Salah. The FA Cup 2-0 victory over Arsenal and the 2-1 Carabao Cup win over Fulham followed Mo’s last appearance for the Reds against Newcastle before flying out.

Fabrizio Romano via Twitter tweeted about the situation surrounding Mo and quoted Klopp as well.

The primary objective is to ensure that Salah certainly receives the best possible care and support from Liverpool’s medical staff to expedite his recovery process.

Klopp acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding Salah’s fitness, suggesting that if the Egyptian forward regains full fitness before the AFCON final, there is a possibility of him returning to the tournament. The decision certainly hinges on Salah’s recovery progress and readiness to contribute to Egypt’s campaign in the continental competition.
