Liverpool set for record attendance this week as Anfield Road Stand works continue

Liverpool FC are making significant strides towards the completion of the new Anfield Road Stand, a project that promises to transform the iconic stadium and enhance the matchday experience for fans. The club moves forward swiftly with their plans, aiming to welcome more supporters for the upcoming Premier League fixture against Burnley on February 10.

This exciting development represents the next phase in the phased opening of the ambitious project. However, before the expanded stand can host additional fans, further internal emergency conditions tests will be conducted. These tests, conducted in collaboration with Liverpool City Council, are crucial for ensuring the safety and well-being of all attendees. (via Liverpoolfc.com

The recent opening of the expanded upper tier of the Anfield Road Stand during the fixture against Manchester United in December marked a significant milestone for the club. On that occasion, over 57,000 fans had the opportunity to witness the action live at Anfield, marking the largest crowd at the stadium in half a century for a match which turned out to be so dull.

THE Anfield Road Stand!

Despite the challenges posed by a busy festive footballing period and numerous domestic cup fixtures in January, progress on the Anfield Road Stand has been commendable. The club’s commitment to the project has ensured excellent progress towards achieving a full capacity of 61,000 spectators.

As the next phase of the phased opening approaches, with the hospitality section set to be operational, Liverpool FC have the opportunity to make history once again. There is a possibility that the Reds could surpass a longstanding attendance record dating back to 1949 when 58,757 spectators witnessed a 2-2 draw with Chelsea.

Let’s see how things go from this point onward. Upper Annie, as it is called on Twitter will see for itself a greater capacity. With more people in the stadium, it will make the environment much more hostile for visiting teams.
