Injury update ahead of Nottingham clash as Liverpool star Mohamed Salah continues to see himself sidelined

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on the injury status of key players ahead of the Reds’ upcoming match against Nottingham Forest. While there is hope for the availability of Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai for the fixture, Mohamed Salah continues to remain sidelined.

Klopp revealed that both Nunez and Szoboszlai may be in contention for the Nottingham Forest clash, providing a potential boost to Liverpool’s squad. However, the absence of Salah continues as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury. Here is what the boss had to say via the club’s official website:

“I don’t think Mo is too far off, but he will not feature tomorrow and from there we have to go.”

“It’s like touch and go… but I think next week at any point it is possible. He is on the way back, definitely, but not there yet.”

Salah’s last appearance for Liverpool was in their 4-1 victory over Brentford, where he made a significant impact coming off the bench to assist a goal and score one himself. Unfortunately, towards the end of that game, he experienced a recurrence of the hamstring issue, prompting the need for further monitoring.

Godspeed!

When specifically questioned about Salah’s status, Klopp indicated that while the Egyptian forward is making progress in his recovery, he is not yet ready to return to action.

Salah’s absence remains keenly felt by Liverpool, given his pivotal role in the team’s success over recent seasons. As one of the Premier League’s most prolific goal-scorers, Salah has been instrumental almost every time he’s stepped onto the pitch. His absence creates a significant void in Liverpool’s attacking lineup, necessitating adjustments in the team’s approach.

However, Klopp’s tenure at Liverpool has seen itself characterised by a strong emphasis on squad depth and youth development. In the absence of key players including Salah among others, Klopp has turned to talented youngsters from the academy to step up and fill the void. Players like Bobby Clark, Jayden Danns, Lewis Koumas and James McConnell have seized the opportunity to showcase their talents and contribute to the team’s success.

Their emergence highlights Liverpool’s commitment to nurturing homegrown talent and building a sustainable pathway for young players to progress to the first team.
