Liverpool have lined up Brentford winger Byran Mbeumo as the potential replacement for legendary forward Mohamed Salah during the summer

Reports link Liverpool with a potential move for Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo as a replacement for their prolific winger Mohamed Salah. Since the last summer transfer window, speculation has persistently linked Salah with a move to Saudi Arabia.

The Egypt captain has enjoyed yet another prolific season with the Reds despite changes in his tactical responsibilities and style. He has depended more on link-up play, creativity and late movement into the box than just dribbling and pace.

As the 31-year-old Salah nears the end of his peak years, Liverpool finds itself continuously linked with numerous potential replacements. Salah, currently sidelined with a muscular problem, has missed many games due to a hamstring injury since January.

The Egypt international has not faced recurring injuries throughout his tenure with the club, increasing the worry about his age. Salah has made 28 appearances in all competitions this season, contributing with 19 goals and 10 assists so far.

Meanwhile, Mbeumo has enjoyed a prolific season with the Bees despite staying under the radar for his contributions. The 24-year-old has made 17 appearances for Brentford in all competitions, contributing with seven goals and four assists.

An ankle injury currently sidelines the Cameroon international after he enjoyed a strong start to the season for his club. Standing at just 1.71 metres, Mbeumo has a bulky physique but possesses impressive agility and pace to beat defenders.

He is an important outlet for Brentford in counter-attacks and exploiting spaces always providing an important threat from the right. He is capable of playing as a centre-forward alongside his natural position as a right-winger, displaying good versatility.

The low centre of gravity and close control help Mbeumo operate in close spaces and keep possession. Furthermore, the 25-year-old’s incredible stamina and mentality to put in hard work helps in counter-pressing from the frontline.

Fichajes reported Liverpool’s interest in signing Mbeumo during the summer transfer window as a replacement for Salah. The report clarifies that the potential transfer depends on the situation surrounding Salah.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will leave Liverpool at the end of the current season after announcing his decision in January. Mbeumo‘s profile somewhat suits what Liverpool desires, but any transfer will ultimately depend on the tactical approach of Klopp’s successor.
