Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp broke a four decades-long record after his team beat Nottingham Forest
Jurgen Klopp achieved another impressive feat when Liverpool beat Nottingham Forest to secure a crucial three points. The Reds defeated Forest 1-0 after a 99th-minute goal from Darwin Nunez right before the full-time whistle.
Liverpool are currently facing a severe injury crisis that is threatening the hard work that they have done this season. The Reds have already won their first trophy of the season by beating Chelsea to secure the Carabao Cup.
Furthermore, they have successfully reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup while the Europa League knockout stage commences in mid-week. The victory against Forest keeps Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table, continuing their impressive form.
The injury crisis restricted Klopp from playing defender Joe Gomez as a make-shift defensive midfielder in the away game. Furthermore, Bobby Clark made his first Premier League start while Caoimhin Kelleher started in the absence of Alisson Becker.
Forest restricted the Reds by playing defensively and resorting to counter-attacking tactics despite the injury-ravaged visitors. Liverpool dominated 71% of the possession and had 22 shots but only managed two shots on target throughout the game.
Klopp deployed Wataru Endo, Dominik Szoboszlai and Nunez during the second half to attempt a late victory. The trio made their return from injury to bolster the Reds during the latter stages of the game.
Alexis Mac Allister delivered another fantastic performance from the midfield and provided a critical assist for the Nunez’s goal. Squawka reported via their official X account that this marks Liverpool’s first victory at the City Ground against Forest since October 1984.
