Liverpool are ready to challenge Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur to sign Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich during the summer

Bayer Munich star Joshua Kimmich is a summer transfer target for Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. Other European clubs outside of these three are also expressing interest in signing Kimmich from Bayern.

Liverpool are currently at the top of the Premier League table and they recently won the Carabao Cup. Furthermore, the Reds have successfully progressed in both the FA Cup and the Europa League competition.

However, they are facing a serious injury crisis that is threatening all the hard work that the team has done. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has successfully used academy players throughout this season s they live up to their manager’s faith.

The shrinking size of the senior team squad has many people questioning if Klopp’s successor could achieve the same feat. The Liverpool boss has already declared that he is stepping back from the managerial role after this season.

Liverpool only have Alexis Mac Allister and Wataru Endo who are capable of playing in the number six role. The Reds have used Trent Alexander-Arnold in the number six position as well with the potential of him moving in midfield.

However, an injury currently sidelines Trent, reducing the available players for the defensive midfield role. Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic have missed most of the current season while Thiago’s contract expires this summer.

Fichajes reported that Liverpool and another Premier League club have shown interest in signing Kimmich during the summer. The 29-year-old prefers a move to the Premier League while his reputation and quality would be a massive boost.

Kimmich started his career as a right-back and shifted into the number six role, becoming one of the best midfielders. He is also capable of playing as a central defender which sums up his impressive versatility.

The German international has incredible technique and vision, making him a fantastic playmaker for his team. His tenacious mentality, ability to read the game and tackling skills allow him to be a formidable shield for defence.

The 29-year-old has the physique, mobility and stamina to easily adapt to the demands of the Premier League. At 29 years of age, he is still in his prime years and he would be a marquee signing.

Liverpool have done well with Endo and Mac Allister while Trent and Bajcetic would have a strong argument for the role in the future. Furthermore, Klopp’s successor would decide whether Liverpool act upon their interest in Kimmich, depending on the tactics.
