Latest Liverpool injury update and return dates as the Reds gear up for UEL knockouts

Injury issues continue to loom large as Jurgen Klopp has to manage a restricted Liverpool side into the UEFA Europa League knockout stages followed by a dead rubber against Manchester City in the league after which we play another worthless FA Cup game against Manchester United. With such insignificant fixtures on the horizon, the Reds see themselves grappling with an extensive list of sidelined players. We can take it lightly though. Not that any of these games directly affect our hopes for silverware this season, no? No?

All injury updates are as per The Standard. At the forefront of these injury woes stands Mohamed Salah, whose hamstring issue has seen him sidelined since a brief return against Brentford. While his return appears imminent, his availability for the upcoming fixtures remains uncertain, with a potential comeback slated for the clash against Pep Guardiola’s side on March 10.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has also been on the sidelines for quite a while. He has been out of action since re-injuring his knee in the league encounter against Burnley. While Conor Bradley has been brilliant in his absence, Trent is Trent and we need him. Hopes pinned on a potential return by the end of March, possibly against Brighton.

Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold are as important as ever for Liverpool Football Club.

Trust the squad!

Alisson Becker‘s absence due to a hamstring injury adds to Liverpool’s woes. Initially expected to return from illness, the Brazilian shot-stopper’s setback prolongs his spell on the sidelines, with a potential return date set for April. Let’s be honest though, has Caoihmin Kelleher made the absence of Alisson dearly felt? We have surely felt his absence, but Caoimh has been absolutely brilliant, also winning the Reds a Carabao Cup in the process.

Another casualty from the Brentford clash is Diogo Jota, who sustained a knee injury that ruled him out with a medial collateral ligament issue. Like Alisson, Jota’s return is anticipated in April, further testing Liverpool’s depth in attacking options. Jayden Danns and Lewis Koumas are academy options we can rely on given their positive impression in recent fixtures.

Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones, Stefan Bajcetic, Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip, and Ben Doak also see themselves on the sidelines. While the rest of this bunch face uncertainty over their extended participation in what is left of the season, Ryan and Curtis could return against City and United respectively.

Dominik Szoboszlai's return from injury will make it easy for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp to manage the absence of Ryan Gravenberch and Curtis Jones.

As Liverpool prepare for pivotal encounters against Sparta Prague, Manchester City, and Manchester United in the Europa League, Premier League, and FA Cup respectively, the absence of key personnel poses a formidable hurdle. Klopp and his coaching staff face the daunting task of managing the squad’s fitness while striving to maintain competitiveness on all fronts.
