Liverpool getting their due diligence done on potential managerial contender to replace Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool are entering a new era as Jurgen Klopp calls time to his tenure at Merseyside following a nine-year stay at the club. The Reds will be hoping to hand Jurgen Klopp an enormous farewell brimming with silverware which will be a testament to his time at Anfield Stadium.

Liverpool got the taste of its first trophy about a week back following beating Chelsea in the League Cup final, but there is still so much to look forward to before the conclusion of the season. Jurgen Klopp & Co. are still in the Premier League title race, into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, and Round of 16 of the Europa League.

While the Kop celebrate Klopp’s tenure at Liverpool and sing along the Fields of Anfield Road, the preparation for the off-season has already been underway.

Liverpool are looking at the next project and the right personnel to take the club into its next era.

Sporting Lisbon coach Ruben Amorim is one of the contenders for the Liverpool managerial job if they fail to bring former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso to the club with the latter being a clear favourite to take charge of the Reds.

Ruben Amorim has won a couple of Primeira Liga titles with Sporting Lisbon alongside two Taca da Ligas which he also lifted during his time in Braga. The 39-year-old has a contract with the Portuguese club till June 2026.

This is not the first time Ruben Amorim has been linked with a Premier League job. He managed to make an impression across Todd Boehly last summer and was one of the leading contenders to take Chelsea’s managerial job while he also spoke to Tottenham before they appointed Ange Postecoglou.

Liverpool are getting their due diligence done as they sent scouts to watch Ruben Amorim‘s team play on Thursday as Sporting lost 2-1 to Benfica in the first leg of the Taca da Liga semi-finals.

Like Ruben Amorim, Liverpool have also expressed desire in Brighton’s highly-acclaimed coach Roberto De Zerbi. The Italian is also perused by Barcelona.

Ruben Amorim is an interesting option who has proven his tactical quality in Europe. It has to be seen whether Liverpool can price away his services from Lisbon.
