Harry Redknapp believes Steven Gerrard should be the next Liverpool manager
Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp probably does not want his son’s former club to manage the Reds. He reckons Steven Gerrard should be the next Liverpool manager following in the footsteps of outgoing manager Jurgen Klopp, who announced his decision to depart the Reds earlier this season.
Yes, Gerrard may bleed Liverpool red, and his exploits on the pitch are etched into the club’s folklore. But let’s not forget that managing a football team is a different beast altogether. Gerrard’s stint at Aston Villa, while not an unmitigated disaster, was hardly a resounding success. “I’m going to say somebody and people are going to think that I’m off my head, but I would give it to Steven Gerrard.
“I know people will say that he was a failure at Aston Villa and it didn’t go great there, but he’s a Liverpool man and was an incredible player for them. He’s got passion for the game and I used to listen to him speak when he was at Rangers and always thought he was going to be top drawer. I would love to see him manage Liverpool.”

The former Liverpool midfield maestro has been absolutely amazing at Bayer Leverkusen, impressing with his tactical acumen and astute man-management skills. Alonso may lack Gerrard’s emotional connection to the club, but he is still a former player and also makes up for it with his tactical nous and managerial pedigree.
