Journo reaffirms why Xabi Alonso would find Liverpool a more attractive destination than Bayern Munich

Neil Jones believes that Liverpool job is more attractive for Xabi Alonso than Bayern Munich or Bayer Leverkusen

Journalist Neil Jones outlined the perks that the Liverpool job would give Xabi Alonso compared to Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich. Alonso is a firm favourite to succeed current Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp before the beginning of the next season.

Klopp announced that he is stepping back from the managerial role at Liverpool due to the feeling of burnout. The 56-year-old surprised the football world, prioritizing his mental and physical well-being while also doing what is best for Liverpool.

The Liverpool fans are still coming to terms with the impending departure of their beloved manager. Nevertheless, the potential return of another favourite in Alonso has given them something to be happy about.

Klopp is leaving the club after installing a fantastic culture of balancing the development of youngsters with achieving success. The Liverpool boss is leaving behind a squad that has the diversity and the fluidity to play under any tactics.

Furthermore, Liverpool academy is thriving and the Carabao Cup success is a firm example of how far they have come. The Reds need a manager who understands the culture of the club and someone who can connect with the fans.

Jones told CaughtOffside

that he believes that Liverpool’s managerial role is a more attractive proposition than Bayern and Leverkusen. He said:

“Personally, I believe that if both clubs (and Leverkusen) made offers to him, then Liverpool is a more attractive proposition at this stage, given the state of the squad, the quality within the academy and the lack of political manoeuvring that goes on behind the scenes, but that’s just my opinion. Bayern, I’m sure, would argue differently. Let’s wait and see how it all pans out.”

Xabi is having a remarkable season with Leverkusen who are still the only unbeaten club in Europe across all competitions. The Spaniard took over the club during the middle of last season when they fell into the relegation zone. He helped the German club finish the season strongly at sixth position, achieving the Europa League qualification.
