Liverpool are eyeing a summer deal for Georgiy Sudakov
Georgiy Sudakov is making waves at Shakhtar Donetsk and it comes as no surprise that Liverpool are interested in securing his services in the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to Calciomercato, the young rising star, with his wonderful performances is attracting attention from other European heavyweights like Barcelona, FC Bayern Munich and Manchester City.
Shakhtar Donetsk has signed a renewal that includes a mammoth release clause worth €150 million. Given that Shakhtar played hardball for Mykhaylo Mudryk, it is fair to say that they are unlikely to lower their asking price.
Sudakov is a big fan of the Premier League but he is not keen to make the jump directly to the English top flight. He has hinted that a move to Otaly would be something he welcomes. Here is what he had to say.
“Of course. As I said, the Premier League is an incredible championship, but first of all I want to play in one of the top 5 leagues and Italy is no exception in this regard.”
While there are several clubs ready to sign the talented youngster, it is highly unlikely that any of them would pay that kind of money to sign him, especially from Italy. Sudakov is indeed talented, but he has not done anything yet to justify the unreasonably high price tag. Given that Mudryk has proven to be more of a miss than a hit, Liverpool have every reason to be wary.
Would Sudakov be the right fit for Liverpool?
The 21-year-old would surely be excited for a move to Liverpool to compete in the Premier League.
The Premier League side could certainly use more quality and depth in the middle of the park, and Sudakov will add technical liability, control, and flair to the side. However, the Reds already have players like Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, and Dominik Szoboszlai.
It would be a lot of fun to see if Liverpool got on with their interest in the midfielder at the end of the season. It would be mind-blowing if Liverpool agreed to the mammoth asking price. After all, we saw last summer that they would rather bring in several players for a significant fee rather than spend it all on one single superstar.
