Darwin Nunez and Ibrahima Konate provide injury boost to Liverpool before the Premier League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion

Liverpool receives an injury boost with Darwin Nunez and Ibrahima Konate available to play Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Reds midfielder Curtis Jones returned to training after recovering from an ankle injury that kept him sidelined for over a month.

Andy Robertson has avoided serious injury after sustaining a minor setback in the international friendly game between Scotland and Northern Ireland. Liverpool faced an injury crisis since the start of the year while facing several adversities during the congested fixture period.

The severity of the injury crisis forced manager Jurgen Klopp to depend more on the Reds’ Academy players who delivered immensely. As the final stage of the season commences, Liverpool hopes that their key players return swiftly to action.

Speaking to the reporters (h/t The Athletic), Klopp provided a crucial injury update that would be a relief to fans. He said:

“Curtis, I am not sure if he is available (for Sunday), but he’s in training. Ibou had an extra rest day (on Thursday), nothing else. Darwin is fine. He did his rehab during the week, trained the first day partially since we are back in and since then he is in full training. Robbo, we take it a little bit day by day so we will see. He will not train today but it’s not bad.”

Darwin has played a pivotal role in the Reds’ attack this season, contributing to goals, assists and overall play. The Uruguay forward has scored 17 goals and provided 14 assists from 42 games in all competitions this season.

Meanwhile, Konate remains a pivotal part of Liverpool’s defence alongside Virgil van Dijk, ahead of Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah. Despite losing Joel Matip for most of the season, Konate and Quansah have performed consistently for the Reds. At the same time, Gomez has played in multiple positions according to the requirements of the team.

The return of Jones would be a major boost for Liverpool’s midfield as he enjoyed a strong run of form this season. Liverpool are currently second in the Premier League, behind Arsenal only on goal difference as 10 matches remain. They will play Atalanta in the Europa League quarter-final in April to go all the way in the competition.
