Jarell Quansah gives a harsh reply to the questions about next Liverpool boss

Jarell Quansah gives a stern reply to the questions about Reds’ boss Klopp replacement, as the Liverpool defender feels he has other things on his priority right now

With Xabi Alonso declaring that he will remain as Bayer Leverkusen manager

, speculation about who will succeed the boss, Jurgen Klopp in the Liverpool dugout is heating up. Quansah mentions his opinion on the situation.

The legendary Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp, announced in January that he would leave the club at the end of the season after nine years as manager.

With former Liverpool midfielder Alonso directing a spectacular transition at Bayer Leverkusen and the German club on the cusp of winning their first Bundesliga title

, the Spaniard was an apparent frontrunner.
Xabi Alonso commits his future to Bayer Leverkusen

As the March international break came to an end, it became public knowledge that the 42-year-old was going to spur interest from both the Reds and Bayern Munich to stay at the BayArena. Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi remains under consideration as Klopp’s suitable replacement candidate.

Despite the twists and turns in the managerial competition, Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah does not have any interest in who his future boss might be. With the Premier League and Europa League championships still up for grabs, the 21-year-old doesn’t have an interest in outside distractions.

When asked how much attention he had been paying to such talk, he said:

“Nothing, literally nothing, there’s a lot bigger things in the near future that we’re playing for. We came into the international break off the United FA Cup game, but before that, it was can we win every cup and every game and that’s how it’s been all season.”

“That was a massive opportunity that we missed there. We felt we were in complete control at times so to let it slip away like that was frustrating.”

“We’ve had a few days to iron out a couple of things and get working back as a team and hopefully put a good push to the end of the season.”

Quansah has his full focus on the games they have in the near future

The centre-back admits he wishes he had been able to play under Klopp for longer, as he paid tribute to his departing boss’ impact on his career to date. He said:

“I think you’ve got to see it as what he’s done for us and not the fact that he’s leaving. Got to see the opportunity he has given us and what we’ve learnt from him and take that into your next years of playing football.”

Quansah does not want these distractions to ruin the mindset of the players and just wants to allot his full focus to the crucial game that lies ahead of them. Although their dream of a quadruple cannot happen now, they are still in the race for a treble.

Quansah’s season so far has exceeded all expectations; he has made 25 appearances to date for the Reds, won his first trophy, scored his first senior goal, and become an England Under-21 international. And inevitably, he has further silverware in his sights before his manager’s exit.
