Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes that the attackers including Mohamed Salah can be more patient with their finishing
Jurgen Klopp asserted that Liverpool attackers including Mohamed Salah need more composure in front of the goal to improve finishing. Liverpool beat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 in the Premier League clash at Anfield to retain the top position.
Salah enjoyed numerous goal-scoring opportunities during the game but managed to score only one goal in the tightly-contested game. The 31-year-old returned from a muscular injury that kept him sidelined for a long period, missing several crucial games.
He sustained a hamstring injury while representing Egypt in the AFCON tournament in January, sidelining him until the Brentford game. However, due to rushing back from that injury, Salah sustained another injury on 17th February when Liverpool beat Brentford 4-1.
The Egypt captain returned to action against Manchester City in a 1-1 draw just before the March international break. He used the international break to recoup properly and played the full 90 minutes against Brighton on Sunday.
When asked whether Salah is now back to his best, Klopp assured the reporters (h/t Liverpoolfc.com) that he is “playing-wise”. He also added:
“Yes, playing-wise, absolutely. Imagine if Mo would have finished off all the situations in his career, that would have been crazy numbers, so it is absolutely fine. Mo as well, like others, was a bit in a rush in the finishing situations in the first half, the finishes were not like they can do it.”
Despite being prolific, Liverpool’s attackers have struggled with composure in front of goal and missed many clear chances. However, the Reds have maintained a very strong form despite the adversities like the injury crisis that they faced.
Liverpool needs to make sure that composure or complacency will not cost them the Premier League title. They are currently at the top of the Premier League but Manchester City and Arsenal are right behind them.
