Chris Wilder has a message for Liverpool after the Reds beat Sheffield 3-1

Chris Wilder wants Liverpool to win the Premier League

It was a closer game than anyone expected it to be, but Liverpool were fortunate enough to make a comeback and secure a 3-1 win over Sheffield United at Anfield. Goals from Darwin Nunez, Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo were enough for the Reds to breeze past the side of Chris Wilder, who had a special message for Liverpool after the end of the match.

The Sheffield boss, as he was boarding his coach, apparently told one of the Liverpool employees that he hopes for Jurgen Klopp’s men to lift the Premier League title come the end of the season. Considering the past between the Liverpool boss and his Blades counterpart, this rather comes as a surprise. According to the Mirror

, here is what he told one of the Reds’ employees at the end of the game:

“I hope you win it – I mean that.”

All’s well that ends well, eh? We have to admit that Sheffield gave the Reds a sizeable number of issues before individual brilliance from Macca and then, Andrew Robertson took the game away from Sheffield. Robbo’s pinpoint cross to Gakpo in the middle of the box saw him overtake fellow Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold to become the defender with the highest number of assists in the Premier League (59).

Not many games to go!

The win against the Blades takes the Reds back to the summit of the Premier League with 70 points from 30 games played. Two points separate the Reds and Arsenal in second place, with Manchester City also creeping in with 67 points on board.

This game saw quite a few Reds make appearances after their injury spells. The upcoming few weeks will also see more players return from their respective issues, placing the Reds in a strong position as the business end of the campaign inches closer.

Revenge for this awaits.

A crucial game against Manchester United at Old Trafford awaits Jurgen Klopp’s men. The Reds have unfortunately not managed to beat Erik ten Hag’s side at OT under his tenure, and a win in this game would balance out last season’s loss as well as the FA Cup loss earlier this season as we get closer to realizing Wilder’s hope of watching Liverpool win the league title.

More Liverpool news

With their destiny firmly in their hands, the Reds must certainly continue to push forward with unwavering determination, knowing that their dreams of lifting the Premier League title are well within reach. As the race for the title heats up and the pressure mounts, Klopp will surely rely on the collective strength and unity of his squad to navigate through the challenges that lie ahead.
