Jurgen Klopp acknowledged that every remaining Premier League game is important and tough for Liverpool as they face Manchester United. Liverpool is currently at the top of the Premier League table with Arsenal and Manchester City right behind them.
The situation leaves no margin for error or complacency and at the same time, they play a couple of rival clubs. The Reds will face Man United at Old Trafford on Sunday after losing 4-3 in the FA Cup last time.
Liverpool have to be careful as United could resort to deploying low-block tactics which they did at Anfield. The Reds have to be clinical and alert during the game while making sure they return with three points.
Liverpool have eight Premier League games remaining aside from the Europa League fixtures that will commence next mid-week. They will play West Ham United, Aston Villa, Fulham and local rivals Everton in the remaining fixtures. Each of these fixtures is tough and with the Europa League, they will arrive one after the other.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference (h/t Liverpoolfc.com), Klopp insisted that every remaining fixture is tough for the Reds. He said:
“Obviously the next one [Manchester United] is the big one, like they all are. Somebody said we had the best fixture list or schedule; I looked at it and I really don’t know how you can have had that idea, maybe I’m too negative but it’s a tough one, good opponents. But we are ready and we want to be in that fight, so let’s see what we can make of it.”
Liverpool have faced a severe injury crisis since the beginning of the year that has threatened their season. Nevertheless, many important senior team players could return during April, hopefully acting as a boost for the squad.
Klopp needs to make sure that Liverpool players do not get complacent and be more composed in front of goal. The Reds squandered several chances in the last two games creating an uneasy atmosphere and unnecessary pressure.
