Jurgen Klopp identifies the ‘dumbest thing’ Liverpool can attempt in Premier League title race

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has termed the ‘dumbest thing‘ that Liverpool can do in the Premier League title race following the latest setback. He believes we should not shift our focus to the improvement of the goal difference after their 2-2 draw against Manchester United.

Liverpool required an 84th-minute equalizer from Mohamed Salah to escape Old Trafford with a point, taking them level on 71 points with leaders Arsenal after 31 games but trailing on goal difference. Holders Manchester City are third with 70 points.

According to the Daily Mail, the German, though, believes it would be wrong to set their focus on chasing Arsenal’s superior goal difference in the remaining seven games of the season.

He told a reporter in his post-match press conference:

“The whole Liverpool community just stay calm,  we are where we are and we keep giving it a proper go. Do I wish we had 10 points difference? Of course.”

“Now people will tell us ‘They have the better goal difference, we have to go for that.’ That would be the dumbest thing we can do, that doesn’t happen on purpose, you don’t go into a game and want to score eight goals and it happens.”

“We are where we are, we are how we are, and that’s why we are in the race. And I’m absolutely fine with it.”

Liverpool’s clash with United resulted in disappointment for the German boss, as they had the game in their hands after Luis Diaz’s opener. They threw away what should have been an easy win and ended the game with a 2-2 draw.

Klopp has good chances of winning the League title

With seven games remaining in the current season of the Premier League, second place is not that bad to be for the time. Liverpool has to uplift their gameplay soon, as they won’t get anywhere with the unorganized gameplay they showed last Sunday.

The Reds will now hope that Arsenal and Manchester City drop more points. Liverpool has the opportunity to win the title on the final day against Wolves, which will be Klopp’s final game at Anfield.

Such a conclusion would mark the end of the German’s reign, with additional twists and turns almost certainly on the way.
