Jurgen Klopp urges Liverpool fans to ignore the ‘noise’ as Crystal Palace awaits

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp told fans and people associated with the club to ignore “the outside noise” and speculations

Jurgen Klopp highlighted the importance of ignoring the outside noise and speculation surrounding Liverpool amid the Premier League title challenge. In January, Klopp announced that he was stepping back from the managerial job at Liverpool after this season.

The shocking announcement opened up a Pandora’s box of rumours surrounding several members associated with the club. From speculation about the next manager to talks about long-serving players and their contracts, the news cycle acted relentlessly.

During this outside distraction and the severe injury crisis, Liverpool have rallied forward while taking one game at a time. However, the Reds have struggled to maintain their consistency in the last few games due to recurring complacent mistakes.

Few fixtures are remaining in the last season for Liverpool under their beloved manager Jurgen Klopp.

The complacency in all phases has cost them dearly in the last two Premier League and the Europa League games. Liverpool dropped two points at Old Trafford despite dominating Manchester United in the first half last week.

They wasted numerous chances to seal the victory, continuing their lack of composure in front of goal. During the mid-week, they lost 0-3 at Anfield in the first leg of the Europa League clash against Atalanta.

Liverpool have shown complacency in the defensive phases as well with the slow build from the backline making them predictable. They lost the ball numerous times in a threatening position at the midfield after opponents easily read the move.

Additionally, the Reds players have shown complacent behaviour in organizing themselves to defend the opponent’s attack, leaving big spaces. While counter-pressing in a specific area, the rest of the players showed slow intent to return to their defensive position.

Klopp wrote in his matchday programme note (h/t Liverpoolfc.com) for Crystal Palace that Liverpool needs to shun outside noises. He said:

“These are the times that we are in football for and the best thing is that all we have to do is make the best of them that we possibly can. We do not have to listen to noise outside or get caught up in speculation, we just have to play, compete and enjoy. After that we will see where it takes us.”

Liverpool’s boss makes a valid point as it is the same team that brought the club to this fantastic position. Liverpool are currently third in the Premier League table, two points behind Manchester City with a game in hand.

The Reds players and fans need to unite once again and take every remaining game as a cup final to finish in the best way possible. Consistency and focus will determine which club emerges as the next Premier League winner.
