Paul Merson expects “a fun game to watch” as Liverpool face Aston Villa in the Premier League clash

Paul Merson predicts “a fun game to watch” as Liverpool take on Aston Villa at the Villa Park on Sunday. Merson predicted a 2-2 draw which seems apt considering Liverpool’s recent form and the Villan’s struggle with numerous first-team injuries.

The Reds have already qualified for the Champions League while crashing out of the title race due to poor form. However, they are heading into the Villa Park with no pressure and a simple drive to finish the season strongly.

Only two games remain for Liverpool as their beloved manager Jurgen Klopp steps back from his managerial role afterwards. The Reds are hoping to deliver good performances for their departing manager as an emotional farewell awaits Anfield against Wolves.

Only two Premier League games left as Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s tenure near its end.

Merson told Sportskeeda (h/t The Liverpool Echo) that the Liverpool and Villa game would be fun to watch. He said

“Liverpool will just go out and try to open up the game as they aren’t playing for anything, so I think this will be a fun game to watch. It largely depends on the atmosphere and the result of Villa’s Conference League clash, but I’m going for a 2-2 draw.”

Liverpool dropped a significant level of form since mid-March, costing them multiple trophies and an anti-climactic end to their season. The Reds struggled with composure in the offence and poor lapse in concentration in the defence throughout this season.

However, their quality and cohesiveness helped them achieve numerous comeback victories and consistent run of form throughout the season. That situation changed when all of their attackers struggled with their finishing while they continued to concede poor goals.

The situation got worse due to complacency which eventually caused the drop in morale and lack of ideas. Nevertheless, the Reds showed their quality against Tottenham Hotspur in the last game, winning the match 4-2.

While they suffered with complacency for a while when Spurs fought back with two quick goals, Liverpool regained domination. Liverpool players would want to send Klopp off by registering two wins in the last two goals by displaying the attacking brand of football that he loves.
