Liverpool are planning to beat Wolfsburg for Union Saint-Gilloise forward Mohamed Amoura during the summer to bolster their attacking department

Wolfsburg are facing Liverpool as the transfer rival to sign Union Saint-Gilloise forward Mohamed Amoura to bolster their attacking department. Amoura has enjoyed a prolific season with Union SG in the Belgium Pro League as they won the league title.

Standing at 1.70 metres, the 24-year-old has a small stature but deceptive strength and balance to withstand challenges from defenders. His low centre of gravity helps in maintaining impressive control over the ball combined with great first touch and skills.

The Algeria international is a creative and goal-scoring force with technique and vision complimenting his movement and pace. He makes plenty of progressive carries, taking on opponents in ground duels and always making direct attacks for his team.

Amoura caught the eye of the scouting department in the last Europa League group stage home game victory against Liverpool. He provided an assist and also scored a goal in the Belgium side’s 2-1 victory over the Reds in December.

The 24-year-old is versatile enough to play as a main striker or behind the central forward and also as a left-winger. Amoura has made 45 appearances in all competitions for Union SG, contributing with 23 goals and seven assists this season.

According to Kicker, Liverpool wants to sign Amoura from Union SG while other European clubs like Wolfsburg plan a move. The Reds’ attacking department failed with their productivity during the crucial stage of the season, causing dire consequences for them.

Liverpool have a fluid attacking department but they are lacking attackers who are direct and capable of beating multiple defenders. Diogo Jota has suffered constant injuries while Mohamed Salah’s pace and agility have regressed due to ageing.

Furthermore, Luis Diaz has struggled with productivity despite his overall contribution in the open play for the Reds. Liverpool needs to freshen things up during the summer as Arne Slot succeeds Jurgen Klopp, also prompting tactical changes.
