Barcelona wants Liverpool forward Luis Diaz to bolster their squad during the summer amid mutual interest from the Colombian forward
Barcelona are planning to sign Liverpool forward Luis Diaz to bolster their squad amid mutual interest from the player. Diaz has played a pivotal role for the Reds this season and continued to be a first-choice left-winger despite the competition.
Liverpool fans adore the 27-year-old for his effective flair and flamboyant style of play alongside his high work rate. However, he has faced criticism for his lack of productivity and a few periods of inconsistency.
The untimely knee injury against Arsenal during the 2022-23 season is one of the biggest causes of his past inconsistencies. Furthermore, many fans and experts have wondered about the cultural and language barrier also playing a role in his effectiveness.
The Colombian forward has bags of trickery and creativity which he applies regularly alongside his high work ethic. He also has the fluidity to play in either wing or behind the main striker and also as the forward.
The 27-year-old has made 50 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool, contributing with 13 goals and five assists this season. Despite Diaz’s regularity in the starting eleven and importance, the change in manager could follow with certain changes.
Fichajes reported that Barcelona are planning to bolster their attacking lineup with Diaz as one of their primary target. Diaz’s father ignited the transfer rumours back in November after declaring the Colombian’s admiration for the Catalan giant.
Given his age and struggle with the cultural difference, Liverpool could sell Diaz for the right price. Under Jurgen Klopp, the Reds never restricted any player not fully committed to the club and that policy should continue under the new structure.
