Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler shared his preferred transfer signings for the summer window while comparing Alexander Isak with Sadio Mane
Robbie Fowler shared his preferred signings for Liverpool during the summer, comparing Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak to Sadio Mane. Fowler named prolific Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins and Isak as the two players he would like at the club.
Isak has played a pivotal role for Newcastle since joining the club during the summer of 2022 from Real Sociedad. The Sweden international helped the Magpies earn a top-four finish in his first season, qualifying for the Champions League.
However, Newcastle have struggled to maintain their status last season, falling to the seventh position in the Premier League. The Magpies are facing issues with the Financial Fair Play rules which could force them to sell players.
The 24-year-old made 40 appearances in all competitions for Newcastle last season, contributing 25 goals and two assists. Isak’s ability to score from both feet at any angle and his directness are a big asset for his team.
The Sweden international is also capable of playing at the left wing aside from his preferable position as a striker. Standing at 1.92 metres, Isak has long limbs which he uses to shield the ball from the defenders and linkup.
Speaking to Crypto Casina LTD (via Liverpool Echo), Fowler compared Isak to Liverpool icon Mane, wishing the club to sign him. He said:
“There are two players I would genuinely like to see at the club; Ollie Watkins and Alexander Isak. I think Watkins has just signed a new deal, but I’ve got a lot of time for him and I think he is brilliant. Isak, for me, reminds me of Sadio Mane as well. I don’t want to put things in people’s heads, but I think he would be a good fit as well.”
The Reds have a strong attacking department but they faced criticism for being too wasteful in front of goals. Liverpool are in the market to bolster their attack as new head coach Arne Slot succeeds Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.

While Slot uses a similar philosophy that Klopp applied at Liverpool, the Dutchman has a very different tactical approach. Liverpool could see changes in their ranks and their style of play under Slot which favours some of the attackers. The Reds would benefit from having someone prolific like Isak in their ranks but Newcastle would want an astronomical sum.
