Liverpool wants to sign West Ham United forward Mohammed Kudus for a “knockdown price” amid controversy surrounding midfielder Lucas Paqueta
The controversial situation surrounding West Ham United star Lucas Paqueta could help Liverpool sign Mohammed Kudus for a “knockdown price”. Investigators probe Paqueta’s betting activities, warning of severe punishment if they prove his guilt.
The situation has financially hurt West Ham as Manchester City’s transfer interest in Paqueta cooled down after these severe allegations. Kudus played a pivotal role for the Hammers last season despite only shifting to the Premier League in 2023 summer.
The 23-year-old’s incredible form, dazzling skills and high productivity have attracted interest from several top clubs in European football. Kudus can play at any attacking position from the lead forward to both flanks and attacking midfield.
The Ghanaian made 48 appearances in all competitions for West Ham, contributing with 18 goals and seven assists last season. According to Football Transfers, Liverpool wants to exploit the situation at West Ham by signing Kudus for a “knockdown price”.
Kudus has a £85 million release clause that will only become active next summer, giving immense leverage to West Ham. However, the Paqueta situation negates a massive payday they expected during this summer which could force them to sell Kudus.
Liverpool are planning to sign an attacker to eventually replace their legendary forward Mohamed Salah. Saudi Pro League are constantly targeting Salah for a high-price transfer deal while the Egyptian is reaching past his prime.
The Reds suffered from a drastic dip in form from their attacking department after the March International break last season. The situation crippled their ambitious journey to win the Europa League and the Premier League in an anti-climactic fashion.
