PSG are keen to sign Liverpool star this summer
As reported by French outlet L’Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain or PSG are interested in signing Liverpool star, Ibrahima Konate this summer. Despite their interest, the French side is yet to make official contact with the Reds over a deal.
If a deal bears fruit, it could be a dream come true for the 25-year-old who has previously mentioned he’d be open to playing for PSG. Here’s what Konate had to say about the situation when talking to Canal Plus last year.
“Could I imagine myself wearing the red and blue of PSG? If I said no, I’d be lying, but if you’re asking, is it one of my objectives? Not at all,”
While it may not be his bucket list, there’s nothing stopping Konate from accepting a move to PSG. Life at Anfield has been tough for him recently and his previous season has probably been one of his worst during his time in the big leagues.
Konate made 37 appearances last season, but constantly kept falling down Jurgen Klopp‘s pecking order. His inconsistency on the pitch could be the reason behind the German manager, not having full faith in the Frenchman’s ability to start games.
Currently, the 25-year-old has two years remaining on his contract. There was some talk suggesting that Liverpool could be looking to extend Konate. However, the lack of noise indicates things might’ve cooled down on that end.
If PSG make a move this summer and are willing to pay a decent price, it wouldn’t be surprising if Liverpool let go of Konate.
