Arnse Slot has named a possible replacement for Liverpool star

As reported by Caught Offside, Liverpool coach Arne Slot has named Santiago Gimenez as someone who has the potential to move to the Premier League. The 23-year-old had a terrific season under Slot during his last campaign with Feyenoord.

Throughout the season, Gimenez made a total of 41 appearances recording 26 goals and eight assists. The Reds would be much better off with a player of his quality which leaves Liverpool star, Darwin Nunez on shaky ground.

Nunez has largely underperformed during his last season at Anfield. He’s misfired on a lot of big chances and the people are now starting to doubt whether he has what it takes to be Liverpool’s first-choice number nine next season.

If the Reds end up bringing Gimenez over to Anfield, Nunez would have to buck up and improve on his performances. If not, the Uruguayan will risk losing his place in the starting lineup to the 23-year-old.

However, there’s no doubt that Nunez has what it takes to compete in the top flight. He made 54 appearances last season recording a total of 18 goals and 13 assists. It is very possible that he can find his form and composure in front of goal under Arne Slot.

Gimenez on the other hand might not end up at Liverpool at all. Tottenham and Arsenal are also interested in the Mexican striker and will be making a move this summer. However, considering Gimenez played some of his best football under Slot, the Reds are at an advantage.

Will Slot continue to count on Nunez if Gimenez arrives and shows more promise than the Uruguayan?
