Liverpool make Crystal Palace star Michael Olise’s signing transfer priority and end interest in Crysencio Summerville
According to a report from Leeds Live, Liverpool have all but ended their interest in Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville and switched their focus towards acquiring the services of Crystal Palace attacker Michael Olise.
The Reds were early favourites to sign Crysencio Summerville, whose long-term future at Elland Road is the subject of intense speculation after Leeds United failed to secure promotion to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
The Netherlands youth international enjoyed a fantastic season with the Whites, registering 21 goals and nine assists as he showcased his potential to make an impact at a higher level. He was named the Championship Player of the Season.
Leeds Live reports Leeds United’s financial position after missing out on promotion means they must sell one of their valuable assets to comply with the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). With Liverpool cooling their interest in Summerville, Chelsea appear to be keen on bringing him to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Despite Liverpool pulling out of the race to sign Summerville, they have a role to play. Michael Olise has been on the Reds’ radar for some time now and he is now considered to be a priority target, the report adds.
Should the Merseyside giants manage to sign Olise, Crystal Palace may use some of the some of the potential £60m transfer fee to battle Chelsea for Summerville’s signature.
Olise, 22, is coveted by several Premier League clubs including Liverpool this summer, having netted 10 goals and provided six assists in an impressive but injury-hit season with Palace. With Mohamed Salah well into his 30s and heavily linked with a move to the cash-rich Saudi Pro League, the Frenchman would be his perfect potential long-term replacement.
The arrival of new manager Arne Slot, who left Feyenoord to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, marks a new era for Liverpool. The Dutchman will be looking to make our club immediate title challengers next season by recruiting well in the transfer market.
