Liverpool have slapped a €75 million (£68.3m) transfer valuation on highly-coveted forward Luis Diaz amid pursuit from Barcelona this summer

Barcelona wants Liverpool forward Luis Diaz this summer as the Reds have slapped a €75m (£68.3m) valuation on their forward. Diaz played an important role under former legendary manager Jurgen Klopp last season as the Reds chased multiple major trophies.

The Colombian forward remained the first-choice left winger despite the anti-climactic ending to the last season due to multiple factors. Diaz remains a key Liverpool player as Arne Slot inherited the squad after succeeding Klopp during the summer.

The 27-year-old’s ability to play at any position in the attacking department combined with his dazzling tricks makes him special. However, Diaz faced severe criticism for his lack of productivity in front of the goal despite having tremendous technical abilities.

The Colombia international made 51 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool last season, scoring 13 goals and providing five assists. The language barrier is one of the mitigating factors for Diaz as he still struggles with English and prefers Spanish.

According to the Spanish newspaper Diario AS (via Liverpool Echo), Liverpool have slapped a €75 million (£68.3m) valuation on the Colombian. Diaz is a long-term target for Barcelona as they look to bolster their attack during the summer transfer window.

Barcelona received more incentive for their pursuit last season when Diaz’s father revealed the player’s affection for the Catalan club. However, the La Liga giants are struggling with finances and they need to raise money to fund the transfer deal.

Diaz has not shown any desire to force his way out of Anfield which is a good thing for Liverpool. The 27-year-old is a fan favourite at the club despite going through many ups and downs during his tenure here. Liverpool fans will wish Diaz well for the memories he has given them if he leaves the club following a suitable offer.
