Turkish giants Galatasaray eyeing an audacious move for Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah
Turkish giants Galatasaray are plotting a shock summer swoop for Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah, claims Turkish journalist Zeki Uzundurukan on the Transfer Plus YouTube channel (h/t Milli Gazete)
Despite not reaching his peak performances this past season, Mohamed Salah, 31, led the charge for Liverpool with a fantastic tally of 25 goals across all competitions. He also added 14 assists, taking his total goal contributions to 39 in 44 games. The forward’s crucial contributions in the final third helped the Reds secure a third spot in the Premier League and subsequently a place in the Champions League next season.
Off the back of another productive campaign for the Reds, Salah clinched the Standard Chartered Player of the Season award for 2023/24—marking a remarkable fourth win in seven campaigns. This just demonstrates the 31-year-old’s value to Liverpool is measured way beyond just goals.
However, the Egypt international’s future at Anfield has been up in the air for some time now. Salah has been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia in recent weeks and months, with the forward about to enter the final year of his contract at Liverpool.
A new destination for Salah has been thrown in the mix by Turkish journalist Zeki Uzundurukan, who stated that the Liverpool forward with the executives of Galatasaray.
“Galatasaray management is looking for a star. Fenerbahçe’s move by Jose Mourinho and Erden Timur’s departure made them a target. Because they went out of the agenda and could not respond to the opponent. For this reason, they want to transfer a name that will make them forget everything,”
“Mohamed Salah’s contract ends in 1 year. Liverpool may dispose of Salah this season. So the possibility of separation is not low. Kerem Aktürkoğlu is leaving, the sale of Barış Alper Yılmaz for a good price is on the agenda. Mohamed Salah may come to Galatasaray. I know they met. There has been a change of coach at Liverpool, which will affect him.”
Aged 31 and with just a year left on his whooping £350,000 a week contract, Liverpool hierarchy and new manager Arne Slot have a massive decision to make this summer over Salah’s future. The ex-AS Roma man may think that he still has a lot of gas left in his tank but the fact of the matter is his form dramatically dipped after the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.

The Reds must come up with a succession plan for arguably our most prized asset. The Egyptian has been a consistent performer for us since arriving from Roma in 2017, so it will not be straightforward to replace him. However, if Liverpool gets a tantalising offer and Salah is open to leaving after giving his all for the club, he must be sold.
