Liverpool are at risk of losing out on transfer target to Real Madrid

As reported by Spanish outlet Marca, Liverpool target, Florian Wirtz seems to have agreed to personal terms for a deal taking him to Real Madrid. It is being reported that the cost of bringing him over to La Liga will be somewhere around £127m.

There isn’t just one agreement in place for Wirtz but two. He has agreed with his current team Bayer Leverkusen to not leave during this summer’s transfer window. Then if reports are to be believed he has also agreed to join Madrid 12 months from now.

Wirtz played a key role for Xabi Alonso’s side this season as they almost finished their season with an invincible treble. While they came up short in the Europa League, Bayer Leverkusen were firing on all other cylinders and won the Bundesliga and the German Cup.

Wirtz was perhaps the best player for Alonso’s side during their historic run through Germany. He made 49 appearances for the team across all competitions. Most of the 21-year-old’s time was spent playing as an attacking midfielder.

Wirtz was always a huge threat in the final third and ended the season with 18 goals and 20 assists to his name. If the Reds had a player of his calibre playing behind the attacking line they might’ve won more than just the Carabao Cup last season.

Moreover, the possibility of them getting Wirtz in a future deal is starting to become smaller and smaller. With Real Madrid involved it will surely be difficult for Liverpool to successfully sign the 21-year-old.

It seems like Wirtz might be heading to Real Madrid in the future. If an agreement truly is in place, it would take a ridiculous offer from the Reds to get the 21-year-old to lean towards Anfield.
