Liverpool reporter David Lynch revealed that the club wants an offer in excess of £20 million to sell Caoimhin Kelleher
Journalist David Lynch stated that Liverpool wants an offer in excess of £20million to sell Caoimhin Kelleher during the summer. Kelleher played a pivotal role for the Reds under former legendary manager Jurgen Klopp last season amid the injury crisis.
Liverpool lost their number one keeper Alisson Becker to injury during the season which helped Kelleher register more club appearances. Kelleher displayed great heroics and made several incredible saves, playing a crucial role at Wembley for the Carabao Cup victory.
The 25-year-old has already stated his ambition to become a number-one keeper for a club to further his career. Kelleher has mostly played as a cup competition goalkeeper under Klopp since earning promotion from the Liverpool academy in 2019.
Speaking on Media Matters with David Lynch (via Anfield Index/YouTube), Lynch revealed the price that Liverpool desire for Kelleher. He said:
“The way it was put to me is that anything between £15-20 million is nowhere near the mark. It’s going to have to be well in excess of £20 million,”
Kelleher has shown the ability to play comfortably in the Premier League and he is currently in his prime. Liverpool fans understand the Irishman’s decision to think about his footballing career after giving them many memorable moments.
At the same time, the price demand by the club is justified due to the quality of Kelleher. The 25-year-old has attracted interest from several European clubs including some of the Premier League clubs.
Liverpool needs to procure the most from their asset as they compete with high-spending rivals with a restricted budget. The Reds have always operated wisely in the transfer market, extracting healthy prices by selling their academy players.
