Chelsea are facing complications to sign Crystal Palace star Michael Olise due to his release clause amid interest from Liverpool

Liverpool could beat Chelsea to sign Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise due to the complicated release clause in his contract. Several top European clubs, including Manchester United, Newcastle United, and Bayern Munich, highly covet Michael Olise.

Olise has enjoyed a fantastic season with the Eagles despite struggling with nagging injuries that limited his appearances last season. The 22-year-old is a creative force and capable of playing on the right wing and as a central attacking midfielder.

The France international has the agility, athleticism and strength to beat opponents in one-on-one duels and make threatening progressive runs. Olise’s immense technical qualities allow him to be an expert in dead-ball situations as he is a primary free-kick taker.

The 22-year-old made 19 appearances in all competitions for the Eagles last season, contributing 10 goals and providing six assists. According to ESPN, Liverpool wants Olise to eventually succeed Mohamed Salah as the primary right-attacking midfielder in the team.

However, the Telegraph reports Chelsea are doing everything to sign Olise this summer despite facing complications. Only Champions League clubs can trigger Michael Olise’s £60 million release clause during the summer.

Chelsea and Man United failed to qualify for the Champions League last season due to their dreadfully inconsistent performances. The two clubs have frivolously spent huge money in the transfer market over the years while continuously struggling to benefit.

At the same time, Liverpool have to work under a restricted budget to comply with the financial rules. While Liverpool have the money to spend, they prefer to do it wisely and only spend big sums when necessary.

Olise has immense quality and potential to become a world-class player but his injuries make him a liability. Liverpool have to assess every option in the transfer market before pinpointing the best player for them.
