Bobby Clark appears to have dropped a hint that his time at Liverpool is over
Liverpool star Bobby Clark enjoyed a breakthrough 2023-24 campaign at Anfield and was held in high regard by former Manager Jurgen Klopp. However, with the times changing, he too appears set to follow the German out of Merseyside.
The 19-year-old was part of the Reds’ side that won the 2024 Carabao Cup against Chelsea at Wembley. Clark arrived at Anfield from Newcastle United in 2021 and is the son of former Premier League star Lee Clark. He made his senior bow for Liverpool in 2022 and has since amassed 14 appearances across competitions, scoring once and assisting twice in the process.
Former Liverpool assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders, now in charge of Austrian giants RB Salzburg appears to have a high opinion of Clark and is keen to sign him this summer. The Reds have already rejected a £6m bid from Salzburg for the midfielder, but the Austrian giants have now returned with an improved offer of £8.2m. However, as confirmed by The Athletic’s James Pearce, it falls well below Liverpool’s valuation and has also been rejected.
While an agreement is yet to be struck between the two clubs, Clark appears to have an inkling of which side the cookie will crumble. The teenager took to X to post a picture of him in a Liverpool training top, with the colours faded out. Whether he is hinting that his time at Anfield is drawing to a close remains to be seen. It would appear that the youngster is resigned to his fate.
While Clark is likely to have been a backup player in the upcoming season, his presence would have added depth to Liverpool’s roster. Having him leave Anfield, that too on a permanent deal does not sit well with us, and also several other supporters if social media interaction is taken into consideration.
There is little doubt that Clark will thrive under Lijnders in Salzburg. The opportunity to play regularly will certainly accelerate his development, aiding his evolution into a top-tier midfielder. Hopefully, the Reds will include a buyback clause that will help them exploit the situation should Clark make it big.

Another Liverpool youngster Fabio Carvalho agreed to join Brentford while Kaide Gordon is set to move to Swansea City on loan. Lewis Koumas signed an extension earlier today and will join Stoke City on loan. Clark could become the fourth youngster to leave Anfield. if a deal is agreed on. Either way, we hope he does well in what should be a key season in his career.
